| Expertise Summary |
| Her research interests include nutrition education and promotion, instructional design, dietary behavior change, and health intervention evaluation. She has developed, implemented, and evaluated a wide variety of nutrition education intervention program materials for audiences ranging in age from preschool to older adulthood. Dr. Byrd-Bredbenner has also authored a number of nutrition texts, journal articles, and computer software packages. In 1999, the American Dietetic Association named her "Outstanding Dietetics Educator." She also served as a Fellow to the United Nations, World Health Organization (in that capacity she worked at the WHO Collaborating Center for Nutrition Education, University of Athens, Greece). Dr. Byrd-Bredbenner was a recipient of the National Awards Program for Excellence in College and University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. |
