I am studying interactions between pathogens, vectors, and hosts, and the emergence of "new" infectious diseases. The past decade has seen a large expansion of information on viral genetics, molecular biology, and pathogen evolution. Polymerase chain reaction has provided a sensitive tool for the detection of pathogen components. Prevention of vector-borne diseases by botanical compounds such as derivatives of neem (Azadirachta indica) is being reviewed. |
